Citizen Boards
Zoning Board
Individuals are appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve on the Zoning Board. The Zoning Board review and make recommendations on rezoning, variance and conditional use requests and refer those recommendations on to the Board of Commissioners for decision.

Board of Equalization
Board of Equalization is comprised of property owners appointed by the Grand Jury of this county.Property owners must meet certain qualifications to serve on the Board. Click here for to review these qualifications. In addition, each member must complete 40 hours of certified training before participating on the board as well as complete 8 hours of continuous education annually.

Individuals can be appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve on the Board of Assessors. The goal of the Board is to fairly and objectively appraise all tangible real and personal property located in Oglethorpe County at market value annually for ad valorem tax purposes and to provide the best customer service in doing so.

Individuals can be appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve on the Economic Development Authority for Oglethorpe County. The Authority is responsible for the recruitment of new businesses in the areas of industrial, manufacturing, distribution, corporate and regional headquarters, customer service centers, and assistance with other major economic development projects in the county.
